How do I know if I'm pregnant?

Wondering if you’re just a little late? Do any of these sound familiar?

  • I’ve missed a period
  • I feel like throwing up sometimes
  • I have to use the bathroom more often
  • My breasts feel tender
  • I’m more tired than usual
  • I’m having mood swings

 Symptoms

Although not everyone experiences these signs, the symptoms above are commonly associated with early pregnancy.  Most pregnancy tests you can buy are very reliable, but they are not 100% accurate.  Only a physician or other appropriate healthcare professional can confirm that you are pregnant.

Pregnancy Decision Line

Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center provides reliable, free pregnancy tests and can also confirm your pregnancy with a medical ultrasound exam.

Facing an unplanned pregnancy? Learn about your options

If a baby is not in your plans right now, abortion might seem like the best way out. Many women and couples find it empowering to understand what is involved in the different abortion procedures as they make a pregnancy decision.

Think you might want to keep your baby?

You may be wondering if keeping your baby is a realistic option. Call us to talk about what parenting could look like for you. We can discuss co-parenting, married parenting, single parenting, or short-term care.

Whatever parenting option you choose, you don’t have to prepare for it alone. We are here for you.

Contemplating adoption?

If finances or life circumstances are reasons you are considering abortion, adoption may be a healthy option you want to consider for you and your baby. As your child’s first parent, you can choose a loving family for your child. Licensed adoption agencies can help. Adoption agencies can help you find a loving home in which you can place your baby. Many of these agencies also provide financial assistance for pregnancy and giving birth, and emotional support during the pregnancy and afterwards.

There is plenty of time to consider whether adoption is the right parenting choice for your child. Don’t rush into a decision to make an adoption plan. You have the choice in what kind of family you want to place your child in and how much ongoing contact you want with him or her. Feel free to give us a call for more information. Your questions are welcomed.

Get the facts on abortion

There are several types of abortion that are used at different stages of pregnancy. Medication abortions use drugs, instead of surgical instruments, to end a pregnancy. Surgical abortions are done by opening the cervix and passing instruments into the uterus to suction, grasp, pull, and scrape the pregnancy out. The exact procedure is determined by the baby’s level of growth.

What can guys do?

Are you a guy facing an unplanned pregnancy?

Once she’s missed a period, everything can change fast. What happens next may be her decision, but most women really care what their partner is thinking.

She’s pregnant.
Here are a few steps to making the best choice for both of you – together.

  1. Learn about your options. She’s carrying the baby, but suddenly you are both parents. What does that mean?
  2. Listen to her thoughts and feelings. What excites her? What does she fear?
  3. Share your thoughts and feelings.
  4. Consider talking with others who are close to you too.
  5. Let her know how important she is to you. Don’t pressure her about the pregnancy or check out. Instead, commit to exploring your options together and getting whatever help you need to make your relationship better than ever.
