Thirst Conference

Presented by Life Action
Event Location: Oak Grove Church 6101 32nd Ave Shellsburg, IA

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

WHY

Thirst?

We were meant to have an eternal relationship with the Lover of our souls, Jesus Christ. We were never meant to find our refreshment and purpose in the things of this earth, whether they be good or evil. God wants us to lay down the substitutes we’ve allowed to replace Him, and to refresh our vision to love Him with all that we are, to love our neighbors as ourselves, and, as we go forward, to complete the Great Commission.

From Sunday morning through Wednesday evening, the Life Action team will bring powerful preaching, refreshing worship, memorable testimonies, dynamic children and youth programs, and passionate prayer to our church. By carefully unpacking biblical texts related to loving God, loving people, understanding, and receiving God’s grace, turning from pride and sin, calling out for God’s help, and seeking Him wholeheartedly, the Life Action team will partner with our church leadership in casting a vision for living a revived, loving, powerful Christian life.

Schedule

There are five service times during this four-day period (one on Sunday morning and one each on Sunday through Wednesday evenings). The THIRST Conference is designed to provide optimum impact for people ages four and up (nursery from birth-3yrs is provided as well). THIRST provides specialized programs for children, youth, and adults so our entire church can experience this powerful time of refreshment. No one is left out . . . from children and young adults to newlyweds and grandparents. Imagine how God could change our church and community when every person is experiencing the same powerful message presented in age-appropriate ways!

Sunday Morning Service

March 30, 2025

We will begin with our regular worship service schedule at 10:15am. Adults and teens start in the Worship Center. After a time of corporate worship, the teens will be dismissed to the Youth Center with Life Action team’s youth leader, and children will be dismissed to the Kids Wing for Kids Clubs with Life Action team members. The team revivalist will follow with a time of prayer and the message for the adults.

Sunday – Wednesday Evening Services

March 31-April 2

During the evening services, 6:30 – 8PM, everyone ages four years and older will begin in the Worship Center (there will be childcare for children under 4). After announcements and a time of corporate worship, children and teens will be dismissed to their separate locations, and the team revivalist will bring the message.

Available for all Sunday services, all weeknight services, and the Ladies’ Luncheon on Tuesday.

HAPPY HEART CITY (4 years old–Kindergarten)
Children will be welcomed to a city where teachers and various characters will reinforce the foundational theme that “Obedience Is the Key.” In addition to interactive drama, the children will enjoy creative lessons, crafts, songs, and activities.

BASE CAMP (1st–5th grades)
Upon entrance, children will embark on a unique experience as “climbers” training to pursue the ultimate adventure of knowing and loving God. Foundational character principles and Scripture will be presented through music, drama, interactive lessons, and activities.

PROGRAMMING

 For Students

Students will begin each night in the Worship Center with the adults for a time of corporate worship. They will then be dismissed to the Youth Center where specialized sessions that complement the main sessions will help our youth think about how Jesus’ teachings apply to their daily lives. Life Action’s passion is to see teens awaken and start a movement that will change the course of this world for God’s glory.

JOIN US IN

Prayer

What if we examine ourselves for every trace of improperly limited Christian experience? What if we dare to ask the Lord to lead us into fresh green pastures and beside new still waters, so that we rejoice in him as never before? What if we let him decide whether our Christianity today is all that he can give us? What if all we offer him is our humble openness — our open Bibles with our open hearts? “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” May Psalm 85:6 grab our hearts and never let us go! Please join us in praying fervently for God to use the THIRST Conference to move within the lives of our people and bring revival to Oak Grove Church and our community.
